clinics

August 1, 2012

It’s hard to believe we are already into August. There is a new story about Satts up on the Story page and July’s blog has been archived.

I have added a comment facility on the blog. At the end of each entry you’ll see a “comment” tag. You can click on the tag and leave a comment if you wish. I’m giving this a try and if it works well it will be kept. But I reserve the right to remove any inappropriate comments without an appeal process.

I’m away for a few days for a private clinic in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The weather forecast looks great, so it should be lots of fun. It’s the first time I’ve been there and it will be a first time experience of my work for all the people riding. Going to a new place is sometimes the most difficult clinics because people are unsure about me and therefore there is a level of scepticism in the minds of many of the participants. I often feel I have to prove myself with a clinic of first timers. It is a very different feel to a clinic of regulars where people are coming because they already have chosen that what I do is what they want.

I find the first time I see people I spend a lot of time discussing the theory behind the approach. I do this because I think it is important that people understand why I work the way I do. As people become more familiar with me, there is usually less theory and more practice. Anyway, I am looking forward to the clinic and I’m sure it will be a good time and lots of learning. I’ll let you know about it when I get back.
