I have come across a few horses in my working life that were committed wind suckers or cribbers, but I have never owned one so you can take my comments with as many grains of salt as you like.
I have often said, “Training is something you do with a horse, not to a horse.” If I want my horse to be my employee then doing stuff to a horse to instil obedience is fine.
A horse is a brain on four legs. A horse is not a body with four legs. If you want a horse to do anything you should have a conversation with the brain.
