At a clinic a few days ago I was helping my friend Claire and her mare, Kiv with some groundwork. Claire was getting her thoughts together as she asked Kiv a question. Then to my surprise and amusement Claire made the quote of the year (so far).

The first part of the clip shows how much Bundy struggled both physically and mentally. But towards the end I hope you can see a big improvement with them both working more as a team. There was still more work to do, but togetherness and Bundy's softness grew steadily.
People who are preoccupied with the hindquarters stepping sideways as the important component of a hindquarter disengagement are missing the point of the exercise. All the important stuff happens at the front end before the feet even move.
